Nexium Control is a non-prescription medication for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (e.g., heartburn and acid regurgitation) in adults.

Ingredients

 

Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 20 mg esomeprazole (as magnesium trihydrate). The other ingredients are glycerol monostearate 40-55, hydroxypropylcellulose, Hypromellose, reddish-brown iron oxide (E 172), yellow iron oxide (E 172), magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid ethylacrylate copolymer 1:1 dispersion 30 per cent, cellulose microcrystalline, synthetic paraffin, macrogol 6000, polysorbate 80, crospovidone (Type A), sodium stearyl fumarate, sugar spheres (sucrose and maize starch), talc, titanium dioxide (E 171) and triethyl citrate.

Usage Instructions

 

Please ensure this medication is used in line with the manufacturer’s directions. Always read the label.
Adults and children over 18: The recommended dose is one tablet a day.
You may need to take a tablet for 2 or 3 days before your reflux symptoms get better.
Maximum of 14 days use. Please see you doctor if symptoms do not improve, or worsen.
Do not chew or crush this medicine.

Warnings and Precautions

 

Do not use:
- If you are allergic to any ingredients contained in this medicine or to other medicines called proton pump inhibitors.
- If you are taking nelfinavir (used to treat HIV infection).
- If pregnant or breastfeeding

Speak to your doctor before using if:
- You have any current or previous medical conditions.
- You are taking any other medication.
- Symptoms have persisted or you have taken other medication for greater than 4 weeks.
- You have upcoming examinations.
- You are over 55 and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms.
- You have any other accompanying symptoms e.g., unintentional weight loss, difficulty swallowing, stomach pain or indigestion after food, vomiting dark coffee like granules, black stools, severe diarrhoea, rash on skin, joint pain.
- You have an intolerance to sugars.
- Please read your patient information leaflet.
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Side effects

 

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common side effects:
- Headache.
- Digestive disturbances: diarrhoea, stomach ache, constipation, wind
- Nausea and vomiting
- Benign polyps in the stomach.

If you get any side effects, even if not listed please talk to your doctor. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction.
