Docusate is a gentle laxative that reduces constipation. It works as a stool softener, it works by drawing water into your colon allowing stool to soften meaning it can pass through more easily and comfortably.
The active ingredient in each capsule is: Docusate Sodium 100 mg.
The other ingredients are: macrogol 400, propylene glycol, gelatin 175 bloom, glycerol, sorbitol, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow (E104), sunset yellow (E110), lecithin, isopropyl alcohol and medium-chain triglycerides.
Docusate Sodium is suitable for the prevention and treatment of constipation in children and adults over the age of 12 years.
For oral use only, take a maximum of 5 capsules evenly spread throughout the day with a drink of water. As your condition improves you should decrease how many capsules you take in 24 hours.
Do not take this medicine if any of the following apply to you: you are suffering from stomach pain, feel sick or have been sick in the last 24 hours or you have a blocked bowel.
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking Docusate if you are needing to take a laxative every day.
