Product description

 

Piriton Allergy Tablets are used to treat allergic symptoms of hayfever and other allergies, including itchy skin rashes.
It contains the active ingredient Chlorphenamine Maleate, antihistamine which helps to treat the itchiness, redness, swelling, tenderness, and irritation of allergies.

 

Types of allergies

 

– Hayfever
– Pet, house dust mites and mould spores
– Skin allergies and dermatitis
– Prickly heat and heat rash
– Reactions to foods, food additives or medication
– Insect bites and stings
– The itchy rash or chickenpox

 

 

Ingredients

 

Each tablet contains Chlorphenamine Maleate 4mg. Other ingredients include: Lactose, maize starch, yellow iron oxide (E172), magnesium stearate and purified water.

Usage Instructions

 

Please ensure this medication is used in line with the manufacturer’s directions. Always read the label
Do not exceed the stated dose or frequency of dosing.
Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet 4 to 6 hourly. Maximum daily dose: 6 tablets (24mg) in any 24 hours.
Children aged 6 - 12 years: ½ tablet 4 to 6 hourly. Maximum daily dose: 3 tablets (12mg) in any 24 hours.
Elderly: Talk to your doctor before using this medicine
Not recommended for children under the age of 6 years

Warnings and Precautions

 

Do not take if:
- You are currently using another antihistamine including products including for the relief of colds and coughs.
- You are allergic to antihistamines or other ingredients in this medicine.
- You have taken Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MOI’s) for depression in the past two weeks.

Consult your doctor before using if:
- You are on any other medication, particularly phenytoin for epilepsy or anxiety medicines to help you sleep.
- You have very high blood pressure, heart disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, liver disease, kidney disease, bronchitis, asthma, or bronchiectasis or if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars.
- Pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to have a baby.
- May cause drowsiness – Do not drive, operate tools or machinery if so.
- Avoid drinking alcohol with this medicine.

- Keep out of the reach and site of children.

 

Side effects

 

Like all medicines, Piriton tablets can have side effects, but not everybody gets them. Children and the elderly are more prone to side effects.

- The most common side effect is drowsiness.
