Product Description

 

Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis 1% Eye ointment contain an antibiotic called chloramphenicol. It is used to treat bacterial infections that affect the front surfaces of the eye.
Chloramphenicol eye drops are not suitable for treating eye infections that have spread deep within the eye or into the eyeball fluid.

Ingredients

 

Each pack contains 4g of the chloramphenicol ointment. 1g of ointment contains 10mg of chloramphenicol. The other ingredient are Liquid paraffin and White petroleum.

Usage Instructions

 

Please ensure this medication is used in line with the manufacturer’s directions.
Adults: Apply a small amount of ointment (1cm) to the affected eye(s) at night if eye drops are used during the day, or 3 to 4 times a day if eye ointment is used alone. If symptoms persist or worsen after 48 hours, or have not resolved within 5 days, speak to your doctor.
Complete 5 day course. Discard Remainder.

Warnings and Precautions

 

Do not use:
- If you are allergic to chloramphenicol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have bone-marrow depression or previous myelosuppression when using chloramphenicol.
- Family history of or current blood disorder.
- Contact lenses during treatment.
- Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, eyesight is affected, you have pain, an injury or inflammation in the eye, your eye looks unusual, are sensitive, have recently been infected, had recent eye surgery, laser treatment, glaucoma or if you have an eye condition or any other medical condition.
- May cause blurred vision after use – Do not drive, operate tools or machinery of so.

Speak to your doctor if you experience any side effects. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction.
